While working on some small chicken watercolors, I thought I'd do a larger one after "Maymont Morning, a small acrylic painting I did back in the Fall.
A native of Florida, I received a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of West Florida in 1972, and came to Virginia in 1979 to take up residence at the drawing board as editorial cartoonist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, where I still work today. The cartoons are syndicated by King Features Syndicate to over 350 newspapers nationwide. I also produce the cartoon panel "Pluggers," which is nationally syndicated by Tribune Media Services. In addition, I do the drawing on the comic strip "Shoe" (working with Chris Cassatt of Aspen, Colorado, and Susie MacNelly of Flint Hill, Virginia) which is also distributed by King Features. When not toiling under the daily deadlines of newpaper cartoons, I enjoy the more relaxing aspects of "Fine Art" drawing and painting. The purpose of this blog is to share my recent painting journeys with family, friends, and fellow artists.
I live in Henrico County, Virginia with my wife, Janet. We have four sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandsons.
